Since 2018, Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen shook up the shonen anime sphere, taking the limelight from the big names that dominated. Six years later, along with two seasons of award-winning shows and a movie, the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga is finally coming to an end.

Shueisha confirmed that the shonen jump manga will be coming to an end on septermber 30th, with only five more chapters left. With the announcement and confirmations, there's still a fair bit of information fans of the show need to know before it ends, and with so few chapters left, its quite a mystery to see how Gege Akutami will tie it all up together.

The Heian Era

While there was no specific promise that the Heian era would be brought to the full light of the show, a lot of the plot draws from the period of Japanese history. Considered to be the golden age of Jujustu, where cursed spirits were more rampant and sorcerers were far stronger than present-day sorcerers, the Heian era was a time of strife and struggle in classical Japan.

It birthed the arrival of incredibly powerful sorcerers, like Takako Uro, Yorozu, Kenjaku, and Ryomen Sukuna himself. Powerful vengeful spirits, Sugawara no Michizane, Sutoku, and Taira no Masakado, were prevalent in the period and also happened to be the ancestors of the Gojo and Okkutsu Families.

With the insane levels of power and Jujustu that existed in this era, there’s no doubt fans of the manga want to get more information and see how it connects with Sukuna and Kenjaku’s backstory.

Hakari Vs Uraume

Since chapter 245, Hakari and Uraume have been locked in battle, or at least that's what fans of the manga have been led to believe. What started as an intense battle between the two sorcerers has long since taken a backseat, making fans wonder what the outcome of the whole thing is.

Hakari and Uraume seemed to be evenly matched, with Hakari able to take everything the ice-controlling sorcerer threw at him. Taking out an arm and a leg, which Hakari instantly grew back with his automatic cursed technique. Hakari’s fighting style against Sukuna’s personal chef, is a battle fans want to see, but it has been put off for so long, with no information on it. Before the series comes to an end, someone would have to check on the two.

Yuta Okkotsu/Saturo Gojo

Gojo’s battle against Sukuna is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated fights in anime history, and with Gojo’s death at the hands of the King of Curses, fans clamored for his return, refusing to believe that the honored one had lost the battle.

Gege Akutami did bring Gojo back, but with a sick twist. Using Yuta’s copy technique, Yuta was was able to copy the body hopping technique of Kenjaku. Yuta then proceeded to jump from his body, into that of Saturo Gojo, giving him access to Gojo’s powers.

Yuta has access to Gojo’s body for the entire time that Rika is summoned, which is five minutes. But after the five minutes are up, there’s no telling what happens to Yuta. Does he get stuck in Gojo’s body, or is he forced to return to his own? Last we saw of Yuta, he passed out on the battle field, still in Gojo’s body. What’s going to become of the katana wielding special grade?

The Merger

The Shibuya incident and the Culling Games had all been a part of Kenjaku’s masterplan. The thousand year old scheme was done in order to fully optimize cursed energy by merging humanity with Master Tengen. The entire process would bring about the evolution of humanity, which had been Kenjaku’s objective all along.

However, with Yuta killing Kenjaku, the activation of the merger has fallen to the hands of Sukuna himself, allowing the king of curses to start it whenever he feels like. Whether or not Sukuna will be able to activate the merger is yet to be seen, but it raises the stakes even more, with fans speculating on whether or not it will go down.

Nobara’s Return

While characters mostly stay dead in Jujutsu Kaisen, Nobara’s death was shrouded in speculations and mystery, leading fans to speculate on whether or not the third of the first year students was still alive. Nobara Kugisaki was supposedly killed by Mahito during the shibuya incident, and since then, she hasn't appeared in any of the chapters other than in flashbacks, thoughts or memories.

The appearance of one final finger belonging to Sukuna, as well as the end of the manga looming, fans have theorized that this would be the best time, and way to bring Sukuna back. Having all three first years working together to bring down the King of curses. Yuji attacking from the outside with his domain, Fushiguro attacking from the inside, and Nobara attacking from a distance, using her resonance attack on the final finger.

While Gege Akutami has led fans to believe that Nobara’s death is final, the few final chapters are set to confirm this, along with other questions that need answering, before the manga comes to an end.
